Satopanth 2011 Team Page | Field Touring Alpine

In September 2011 we will embark on our second expedition to Satopanth and hope you join us on the trip or follow along with our dispatches! This 7027m peak is a soaring fin of snow and ice and lies in one of the most beautiful regions in India. As our team approaches the mountain and climbs its steep slopes they will be treated to views of Thalay Sagar, Shivling and the terrifying granite pillars of Bhagirathi III, described as “El Cap with a Droites North Face on top at 6000M".

The trip from start to finish is one of the most remote and demanding trips we offer and if you have strong techincal skills and an aptitude for altitude then this may be a great climb for you! See our Satopanth page for more details!

2011 Satopanth Team

Ben Kane

Ben is fresh off of a successful trip to Cho Oyu last April/May and well rested up for a demanding expedition ahead on Satopanth. He'll be joined there by our two highly experienced staff who helped us to have a successful trip in 2009 under the leadership of Chris Szymiec. After Satopanth Ben will be heading onto Nepal to lead our Khumbu Peaks and Passes trip in October and then on to Ama Dablam in November.

In December he heads down to Argentina for a few weeks of R&R and then will lead our January trips on Aconcgua. Ben has led many trips for FTA including Aconcagua, Ama Dablam, Broad Peak, Island Peak and is roundly held as one of our most amiable and attentive guides.
